This study by Collins (Pepperdine U.) explores the role of higher education in aiding poverty reduction in international development. Building on a theoretical framework that focuses on development, postcolonial theory, and indigenous knowledge, he examines organizational policy and practices of the World Bank, World Bank lending projects for higher education in Thailand and Uganda, and a collaborative project of Michigan State U. and Texas A&M U. that sought to connect the indigenous knowledge of local coffee farmers and producers in Rwanda with the institutional knowledge of the faculty of agriculture at the U.
