Surveying the literary and cultural landscapes of the long eighteenth century, this collection examines the many locales that shaped Briton's affiliations and identities. Essays on individual authors, a variety of literary genres, and diverse cultural practices, demonstrate how representations of place from the Restoration through the Romantic era enabled British authors to articulate distinct but interrelated local, national and transnational identities and communities.
