Love or hate his policies, there is widespread agreement that Barack Obama has shown a mastery of political rhetoric. These ten contributions, mostly by professors of English or communications look at addresses he made both at home and abroad. Specific addresses covered include the A More Perfect Union response to the fallout over quotes by his former pastor Jeremiah Wright; The December 2009 address at West Point about his coming plans for Afghanistan; and his June 2009 Cairo speech that directly addressed the Muslim world.
